"Mama Rose

John Holbrook has
photographed the inmates on Texas Death Row. The exhibition of these
photographs begins October 15th 2008 in an exhibit at the Norwegian
Opera house in Oslo. This exhibit is sponsored by Amnesty
International.

Holbrook is an internationally known, Texas artist who has appeared
on CNN twice.
'Mother Rose' is a picture of a homeless woman who suffers from
schizophrenia. The clothes worn by 'Mother Rose' are her own
and she placed the blanket on the fence to shield herself from the
110 degree Texas sun. The bird in the picture is real and appeared
unexpectedly in the image. The artist added the 'Halo'
to the subject with a darkroom technique called dodging.
